Waitlist, Deferral and Decision Support
Help after decisions arrive: deferral letters, waitlist letters, and comparing offers.

If an application is deferred
A deferral usually means a college has moved an Early application into the Regular Decision pool for another look. It is not a rejection. Read the deferral message first, since some colleges invite updates and some ask applicants not to send anything. If a college allows it, a letter of continued interest restates the applicant’s interest and shares anything new.
If an applicant is waitlisted
A waitlist means a college may admit applicants from the list if space opens after admitted students decide. The process differs by college. Follow the college’s instructions, accept the spot if the college is still a real option, and send a letter of continued interest if the college allows one.
Letters of continued interest
A letter of continued interest is short, usually about one page, and specific. A strong one typically includes:
A clear statement that the college remains a strong interest
New information since the application, such as grades, awards, or projects
Specific reasons the college fits, tied to details about the college
A statement that the applicant would attend if admitted, only if that is true
Some colleges do not accept additional materials, so check the instructions before sending anything. A letter does not guarantee a different outcome.
Comparing offers and choosing
When several acceptances arrive, we help applicants compare the colleges on academic fit, campus, and the factors that matter most to the applicant and the family. The decision belongs to the applicant. We help organize it.
Choosing a round at the start shapes what happens here. See college list and early decision.

What to Expect
In a free consultation, we review the applicant’s profile, goals, and school list. Support after decisions then follows three steps.

Read the Decision
We read each decision and its instructions and note what each college allows applicants to send.
Plan & Draft
We decide whether to send a letter and what it should say, and the applicant drafts with our written feedback.
Compare & Decide
We help the applicant compare offers so the final choice is clear.
A near-peer advisor on every application
Every applicant works closely with a near-peer advisor, a recent graduate of a top university who has been through the process. Before anything is submitted, it goes through review by our senior team. Meet our advisors, see where our students have been admitted on the results page, or read the FAQ.
